 Milana Aleksandrovna Vayntrub is an American comedian, actress, and activist. Born in the Soviet Union to Jewish parents Her career began as a child performer soon after her move to the United States. The appearances she made as Lily Adams in AT&T TV commercials between 2013 and 2016 - and then in 2020 - have made her famous. In addition to her commercial appearances, she was a series regular on the Yahoo! Screen science-fiction comedy Other Space (2015) and was a regular in the NBC drama This Is Us (2016-2017). Vayntrub has also been voiced as Squirrel Girl on the Marvel Rising franchise since 2018 after being selected to play the character in the unaired TV pilot of New Warriors. Vayntrub was born in Tashkent, Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic, USSR, and is Jewish. At the age of 2, she immigrated with her parents to U.S. to escape antisemitism. She was able to settle in West Hollywood. When she was five she started appearing in Mattel Barbie commercials. This was partly due to the economic hardships in her family. Vayntrub briefly studied at Beverly Hills High School. After her sophomore year, she dropped out and earned an GED. She went on however to earn a Bachelor of Arts, Communication from University of California San Diego. She studied improv with the Upright Citizens Brigade.
